Taylor Kitsch has confirmed his starring role in “True Detective.”
In a new interview with Adweek the “Lone Survivor” star says he “can't fucking wait” to go in front of the cameras for Season 2 of the HBO series, which he bagged after turning down multiple other offers:
“Yeah, I mean it was just showing a lot of patience on my end and turning a lot of stuff down because I wanted to be a part of it,” said Kitsch. “And having this meeting with ['True Detective' creator] Nic Pizzolatto, it kind of brought me back to when I was here in New York and why I wanted to be a actor, why you struggle and why you don”t quit. And when we”re talking, I mean he”s obviously incredibly smart and passionate, so that rubs off.”
Already confirmed for Season 2 by the network are Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn, with Rachel McAdams also rumored to be taking on a role. It was previously rumored that the California-set batch of episodes – which will see both Justin Lin and (allegedly) William Friedkin at the helm – would take place in the 1970s, but Kitsch indicates a modern-day take – albeit with something of “old school vibe.”
“It”s contemporary. But the characters, I think, are going to have that great tone,” he said.
“True Detective” Season 2 premieres next summer.
Do you think Kitsch is a good addition to the new season? Let us know in the comments.
